Patients at Vineyard Hill Surgery in Wimbledon will be able to continue to receive primary care services at the surgery thanks to a new GP partnership.
NHS England (London) was informed by the existing partners that they no longer wanted to terminate their contract and wished to form a new practice partnership. The new partnership will continue to provide primary care services from the existing site and there will be no disruption to the care patients receive.
The arrival of the new partnership means improvements to the premises and that the practice will be able to cater for increased patient numbers.
Stephen Hammond MP said, ‘Hooray this is great news. There was great distress in the local community when we all first heard the suggestion that the surgery might close. My thanks go to Iain Simpson and Paresh Modasia of the Wimbledon Park Residents Association, plus local Wimbledon Park councillors Oonagh Moulton, Linda Taylor and Janice Howard for all their help.
‘I am delighted that Dr Harris will be joining the practice and I understand has ambitious plans not only to keep the current excellent GP service but to introduce new services and modernise the property.
Like so many in Wimbledon Park, I would like to express my thanks to Drs Jones and Provost for their service to the community and wish them well in retirement.'
An NHS England (London) spokesperson said: "Following consultation with patients at Vineyard Hill Surgery, we have worked hard to ensure the future provision of primary care services at the practice.
"A new GP partnership, who will keep the existing contract, has been secured for the site and will continue to serve the primary care needs of the local community. We will write to patients to inform them of changes."
