The final Boundary Commission proposals have been published today. I am delighted to say that in Wimbledon there has been no change from the revised proposals from October last year.
This means that the current Wimbledon Constituency will be kept together, and joined by Colliers Wood and Roehampton Wards. This is a vast improvement from the initial proposals which split Wimbledon in two by removing Wimbledon Park and Wimbledon Village.
This was a spectacular effort from the people and residents groups of Wimbledon who made it very clear for the second time how cohesive our community is. The strength of our submissions led to the Boundary Commission actually visiting Wimbledon and concluding that Wimbledon Park and Wimbledon Village are integral parts of the community, which was reiterated on this latest report.
The final recommendations will now be debated and voted on by Parliament.
