Taking care of our local environment is one of my top priorities.
We are lucky to live in a beautiful and peaceful area in London, with many fantastic green spaces.
Wimbledon has been my family home for over 20 years and if re-elected, I will work hard to:
- STOP Heathrow Airport expansion. We should not have to put up with more noisy flights and pollution. Earlier in the year I organised a public meeting so local residents could express their concerns directly to Heathrow.
- IMPROVE local air quality, particularly around our local schools.
- NO MORE #MuckyMerton. Continuing to hold the Labour-run Council to account for failing to collect our bins on time & failing to keep our streets clean.
- PROMOTE ‘greener’ modes of transport, improve pedestrian routes and cycling connections.
Please take a look at, like, and share, my short video which sets out these priorities.
We have global environmental issues that are of great importance too; reducing carbon emissions, addressing climate change and reducing our own carbon footprints.
In Government, the Conservative party have done a great deal on many of these matters. We were the first major economy to commit to net zero carbon emissions, we have invested in green energy, become the world’s leader in offshore wind, we are tackling single-use plastics and we have legislated to protect animal rights.
There is more we can be doing of course and I will continue to campaign strongly on these local and global environmental issues so we can protect the local environment for you, your family and future generations in Wimbledon, Raynes Park and Morden.
