I have received many complaints over the last year about the number of delivery scooters and the behaviour of some of the drivers on Wimbledon Bridge.
Last December I organised a meeting with all the companies and the local council to explain the complaints and to seek a solution. It was agreed that parking spaces would be found in local car parks and that the companies would look at extending their supply times so the delivery drivers were not penalised.
The Council did find spaces for the riders, however there is no sign that these are being used. In fact, post the Championships there appear to be even more bikes parked in the area designated for station drop offs. Recently, I have had numerous complaints about the behaviour of the riders and the state of that area of the Town Centre. This has become unacceptable and frightening for many residents.
Yesterday I met with Hannah Doody, Chief Executive of the London Borough of Merton, and she agreed that action must now be taken. The Council will review the local traffic orders and I look forward to action being taken to curtail the numbers and the anti-social behaviour.
